Frequently Asked Questions

Is MyUncleJoe really free?

Yes. You can upload your repair order and get your potential savings number for free. To see the full itemized breakdown you share with 3 friends or post to social media. No credit card required. No account required to get started.

Do I need to create an account?

No account is needed to check your estimate and see your savings. If you want to save your vehicles, track your savings over time, and keep your report history, a free account takes 10 seconds to create.

Is my repair order information kept private?

Yes. Uploaded repair order photos are deleted immediately after Uncle Joe reads them. The raw text is deleted within 24 hours. When your savings contribute to shop statistics, all identifying information is removed. Your estimate data is anonymous in our database.

What does Uncle Joe actually check?

Every line item on your estimate is checked against four things: whether parts are priced at or under MSRP, whether labor hours match published flat-rate book time, whether the service is actually due at your current mileage, and whether any of it might already be covered by your warranty.

Is the warranty check guaranteed?

No. Warranty coverage is subject to the manufacturer's determination. Coverage can be denied based on reason for failure, vehicle history, and other factors. Uncle Joe provides reference information so you know what questions to ask before you approve anything. Always confirm warranty coverage with your dealer before the repair begins.

What vehicles does Uncle Joe cover?

All makes and models sold in the US since 1996. Coverage for some off-brand or specialty vehicles may be limited. Uncle Joe will tell you if data is limited for your specific vehicle so you are not surprised.

What if my shop is not in the system?

Enter your zip code and Uncle Joe searches all shops and dealers in your area. If a shop has not been reviewed yet, your estimate will be the first data point and future drivers will benefit from it.

How does the savings counter work?

Every time a user unlocks a full report, the potential savings Uncle Joe identified gets added to the national counter. It reflects the total across all family members, not money in any individual account. Whether you push back and save the money is up to you and your situation.
